1.
I heard you on the wireless back in fifty-two Lying awake intent at tuning in on you If I was young, it didn't stop you coming through (Oh, ah-oh) They took the credit for your second symphony Rewritten by machine and new technology And now I understand the problems you can see (Oh, ah-oh) I met your children (Oh, ah-oh) What did you tell them? Video killed the radio star Video killed the radio star In my mind and in my car (Oh, oh oh uh-oh) And now we meet in an abandoned studio We hear the playback and it seems so long ago And you remember the jingles used to go (Oh, ah-oh) You were the first one (Oh, ah-oh) You were the last one Video killed the radio star Video killed the radio star In my mind and in my car We can't rewind we've gone too far (Oh, oh oh uh-oh) (Oh, oh oh uh-oh) Video killed the radio star Video killed the radio star In my mind and in my car We can't rewind we've gone too far Pictures came and broke your heart Put the blame on VCR You are a radio star! You are a radio star! Video killed the radio star Video killed the radio star Video killed the radio star Video killed the radio star

about

Vocals, keyboards, production, cover design, etc., etc. by Phoebe Collins. Mastered using Mixea.

This project was made in collaboration with WCUR 91.7 FM in celebration of the station's 25th anniversary. The extended version (only available here on Bandcamp!) features an extra-long bridge, conveniently designed for use as a music bed by DJs on WCUR or anywhere else on the airwaves. Long live local radio!

Special thanks to Eric Harrison, Claude Olson, Justin Rizzi, and the WCUR staff (especially the Music Director, John Mosher).

Cover design inspired by the original album art for "The Age of Plastic" by the Buggles, as well as by Keith Arnatt's "Self-Burial (Television Interference Project)," 1969.
